Programs

Healthy growth and vitality of our communities and natural environment starts with individual and grassroots participation.

There is a great need to educate people of all ages about our natural world and to promote a sense of personal responsibility for improving the quality of our environment.

Gray Hawk Nature Center exists to facilitate awareness, appreciation, and responsibility for the natural world through environmental and outdoor education. Our programs are for anyone interested in learning more about the environment, the outdoors, and themselves.

The value of educating children through outdoor experiences cannot be overstated. Recent studies reveal that not only does outdoor, hands-on environmental education enhance performance in all academic subjects; it provides students with vital life tools. Improvement can be seen in persistence in tasks, communication skills, working in groups, and even school attendance and behavior.

The Center offers a wide array of programs - All of which are geared to instill in each person a sense of conservation and stewardship for our natural world.

We at Gray Hawk Nature Center strongly believe that high quality place-based environmental education can help all people make better decisions regarding the resources we share. In the end, we will protect only what we love. We will love only what we know, and we will know only what we are taught.
